Let’s say you’ve been dating your significant other for a while and on date night the two of you always go to your favorite restaurant, but you’re looking to switch things up. Or maybe you’re going on a first date with a food lover and you’re stressing over where to take them. No worries, we’ve done the work for you. Skip the dinner and a movie routine this week and try one of these five food-centric date ideas instead. You can thank us later.

Sip and Paint

Who doesn’t love to release their inhibitions with some wine and let their creativity flow with some art? We suggest a BYOB location so that you can have the wine you fancy, (and your partners favorite liquor). But if you’re looking to fully immerse yourselves in the experience, feel free to grab cocktails at the painting studio you choose. And don’t worry if you’re no good at painting, the idea is to create with one another. Plus, who knows, a little wine could turn your flower petals to a Georgia O’Keefe masterpiece. Pizza Making Class

Sometimes cooking with bae is more enjoyable than cooking for bae. So, learn how to move that dough and sign up for a pizza making class where you can take your new skills home to try again later. Some of these classes have an open bar option and I think Mimosas + Mozzarella sounds refreshing for an early Saturday Afternoon. If you’re in New York City, check out AOA Bar & Grill as an option.

Do a Bacon Tasting

There are bacon festivals happening all year round that you can bring your little bacon lover to. There are also restaurants like Bar Bacon that offer a bacon tasting on their menu to make your taste buds dance. So go ahead and “pig out.”

Sushi Making Class

Sushi is one of those meals that seems so incredibly hard, that few people try and make it on their own. We suggest you lean into that fear and give it a try. Taste Buds Kitchen has sushi making classes among other cooking classes in locations across the country. No sushi making classes in your area? Order a kit on Amazon, watch a few Youtube videos and try it anyway! But maybe have your favorite pizza shop on standby, just in case.

Apple Picking

From mid-August to the beginning of November is the perfect time to go apple picking! Best of all, there are orchards near most metropolitan areas. There’s nothing quite like a relaxing day of apple picking, laughs, some wine and some quality time with your loved one! You can go home after and bake an apple pie together or make some spiked apple cider.
