3 must try restaurants

Miami Finga Licking Stuffed Lobster

In my first attempt to make it to Miami Finga Licking, I failed miserable by driving 25 more minutes out of Miami to Finger Licking Caribbean restaurant. Hello disappointment. Many of you who are avid readers of my travels, know how much I love going to Miami to eat. So if I’m not at my favorite Miami brunch spot or frolicking on the beach, I’m looking for quick eats that can keep the party going.

Determined to eat at the real Miami Finga Licking, I made it my business with the help of my boyfriend, to stop by as soon as I landed. The sun had already set and it was technically on the way to South Beach so it made sense. But let me warn you that when I pulled up, the security gaurds were wearing your latest bullet proof vest which made the place look even more eery and shady than it did. I’m known to risk my life over some chicken so there was no real cause for concern but seriously? Vest? I needed to see what the hype was about.

Miami Finga Licking Mystery Drink

I was also hoping I would run into DJ Khaled since he’s one of the owners but maybe you’ll be luckier than I was on your visit. Though I could use a cocktail, I quickly ordered the mystery drink that was suggested at my table. I really wish it came with vodka but it was delicious and fun to have. It reminded me of my childhood, as the drink is colorful and fruity but didn’t have the loads of sugar I was probably drinking back then, that or I couldn’t tell. Somehow, it lasted through the entire meal and it was refreshing takeaway from the food party my tastebuds like to have.

Miami Finga Licking Wings

Previously, I had heard the chicken here was going to be majestic and although they were, I was upset no one told me how good the sides were going to be. For me, it was about having it all back to back that really made the meal. I love wings that are covered in sauce so, win. It had the perfect crunch you’re always hoping for before the bite and leaves you wanting for more but the fact that you can get two sides is what makes Miami Finga Licking the bomb. I had corn on the side, as well as, macaroni and cheese. May the church say, Amen. Everything was just right and one spoonful after the other, it all started to disappear. We also ordered the shrimp stuffed lobster which they didn’t hold back on portion wise. It’s safe to say everyone was satisfied and I can’t wait to visit Miami Finga Licking again.

Bodega South Beach Tacos

It’s no secret that I love visiting Miami for one of my favorite places to brunch over and over again. However, on my last trip, I made it my business to check out Bodega. This funky spot is perfect for the laid back types who love great tacos and cold drinks. Also known as me, me, me and me. The food here is served out of a truck that is actually on the inside of the spot. Yeah, I mentioned it was funky.

Bodega South Beach Margarita

In addition to the dope set up, the outside seating is great for people watching and catching some rays. They even have a speakeasy type area that you can access in the evenings if you know how to get in…

Bodega South Beach Hot Sauce

It was a hot day in South Beach which called for margaritas that Bodega had on demand. Nothing like self-serve Margarita’s while you decide which tacos you want to dig into. We went for the Al Pastor, the chicken tacos, BBQ carnitas and the specials of the day. They hand you a buzzer to notify you when your food is ready so we hung out with the guacamole and chips while we waited. The guacamole couldn’t compare to the tacos as it was your typical guacamole and chips but it certainly gave us a chance to try all the hot sauces at Bodega, which are plenty.

Bodega South Beach Tacos

Once the tacos came out, I think the sun started shining brighter. I need to even add Bodega to the 4 places in Miami you have to try because the tacos are straight sinful. Whenever there’s a special at a place you’re going to for the first time, try it. It’s called special for a reason! I’m a super taco snob and this is because tacos can really be hit or miss and to make a great one, everything has to be right. From the softness of the tortilla, down to the sauce and the combination of flavors which Bodega has in the bag. If you’re headed to Miami or South Beach anytime soon, stop in.

Let's take a Foodcation!

We’re going to be traveling abroad soon, for food! Be sure to get on our list and find out where we are going next.

The Federal Miami Quesadillas

The Federal Miami has been on my To Eat List for a few years now.  So I had very high expectations when I was finally able to make the trip.

I had previously interacted with the restaurant on social media which made me even more excited that I was staying close enough to check out their brunch.

After being seated outside, we were greeted by one of the most amazing servers I have ever had the pleasure to encounter, Everette.

The Federal Miami enchiladas

Honestly, based on the customer service that Everette showed us alone, is enough to go back to The Federal Miami a few more times. He was just that good.

Our bottomless Mimosas were truly bottomless. Sifting through the menu was seamless. Everyone seemed to know what they wanted, but it did help that everything on the menu sounded like it was going to be delicious.

The Federal Miami Quesadillas

Although we could have used another serving of Enchiladas, this and the Quesadillas were perfect dishes to share. The Smoked Brisket and Eggs, however, was the table favorite as it was pure comfort food in a bowl.

The Federal Miami Brunch

Of course, I ordered an item that didn’t allow for sharing. Plus, it was quite messy at that. However, I just couldn’t resist having a breakfast sandwich. Thanks to Everette, who backed up my choice when I was in a decision dilemma.

At first bite, I thought to myself, “Wow! I should have cut this!” It was a lot of sandwich, and yolk, and pork, and sauce oozing all over. I could go on. For the most part, the biscuit itself was tough enough to keep it together, but it was still soft enough for me to enjoy. Adding the runny yolk certainly added to the experience. The texture of the pork was not at all gamy, as I expected, and it was a hearty bite. One that I hope to have again soon.

The Federal Miami Bread Pudding Dessert

Since our entrees were so delicious, we decided to have some dessert. Although, I wasn’t too crazy about it, I do remember the Bread Pudding bowl being empty by the time we departed.

After eating we didn’t leave right away. The Federal Miami is a place where you will want to stick around for a while.

Cheeseburger Baby Miami

I go to Miami enough to know where to grab a great bite to eat. Sometimes, when I’m having a craving, I try to rationalize how a few of my favorite Miami restaurants are just a flight away.

Check out these 4 places you must try in Miami.

Casandra Rosario Miami

Cheeseburger Baby | 14th & Washington Ave

Whether it’s for lunch or when you’re about to head in from a long night on Collins Avenue, Cheeseburger Baby is a much better alternative than the pizza spot in Miami. Though they have more than burgers, their thick shakes and hearty burgers will do you the justice you’re looking for.

Cheeseburger Baby Miami

Bolivar | 841 Washington Ave

Ocean Drive is far too crowded with tourist and overpriced pasta so when you’re traveling for a birthday, you may be seeking something more intimate for your group. Bolivar has heavy portions, live music, and plenty of sangria to keep the party going. If you’re traveling with a group and need some down time from the festivities, this is a great place to have that special dinner.

Bolivar Miami

Larios | 820 Ocean Drive

This is the only restaurant really worth visiting on the strip and it’s never crowded. The secret is out now but the delicious Cuban dishes at Larios, can’t be passed up. The appetizers are great for sharing and the location works from when you want to get back to the beach quickly. I try not to leave Miami without getting their stuffed plantain cups.

660 Anglers | 660 Washington Ave

Going on it’s third and possibly fourth plug on FoodBeforeLove, Anglers is my favorite brunch spot in South Beach. The menu has changed since my first visit but the quality of service and food has not. The bread here was haunting me for a while, it’s a must try. With the bottomless mimosas they offer, nothing on the menu will stop you from loving this place.
