Next month I’m off to one of the Caribbean’s hidden gems, Guadeloupe! And it’s all happening thanks to the good old World Wide Web.
I got a newsletter from Travel Noire a couple months ago and was pleasantly delighted at what I saw. There was a flight deal from NYC to Guadeloupe for $209 roundtrip on Norwegian Air. I didn’t know a thing about the island, but I’d been dying to go on a vacation. So, I took the deal as a sign. I thought, Go dammit!
After doing a little research on Guadeloupe, I fell in love! I hit up a friend, told her about the fare deal and she was on board (all pun intended). We were headed to Guadeloupe!
I’ve always heard people talk about snagging fare deals, or taking advantage of flight errors and glitches, but now that I’ve benefitted from one myself I’m hooked! And I wouldn’t be a good internet cousin if I didn’t share some knowledge with you all. So, here are the travel sites I frequent to get sweet deals on vacation flights.
Hopper
Hopper, which might be the most popular flight app, is your own psychic personal travel agent. The app uses data to predict when the best flight prices will become available. Once you’ve entered your desired travel dates, the app graciously notifies you when the time to buy has come. Hopper users usually saves users an average of 10 to 15 percent off flights.
Fly Glitch
Although this isn’t a free service, it is pretty amazing. For $50 every six months subscribers exclusively receive the latest fare glitches straight to their inbox. You can customize your alerts based on the region you’re located too so you’ll be getting deals on departing flights from the nearest airport as soon as they’re available.
Hit List
As the name implies, Hitlist allows their users to target specific destinations. Users can build their list manually to the places they want to visit to avoid being sent hundreds of price alerts they’re not interested in. Hit List provides you with the itineraries that will best fit your needs, after scanning endless fares. The app can show deals on hotels at your destination too.
The Flight Deal
It’s all in the name. The Flight Deal has all the latest deals, glitches and errors from all over the globe. The great thing about The Flight Deal is you can find deals for flights leaving from any city and not just big city airports like NYC or Atlanta. The site frequently has deals that depart from European and Caribbean cities so if you have friends and family that live internationally they can grab a deal too! You can also sign up for their newsletter and get daily emails about the deals of the day. The site also provides users with resources for hotels and rental cars.
Travel Noire
The aforementioned Travel Noire is not only a great place to get flight deals, they also provide first hand travel tips and experiences from the travelers themselves. Travel Noire is a community geared towards young Blacks dying to see the world and making it happen!
