The Bronx is well known for some of its staple culinary experiences such as City Island, the Bronx’s Little Italy, and a plethora of spots for good ole Latin cuisine. So ever since I began working in the South Bronx, I have been on a mission to find the perfect quick lunch spot, which led me to getting pizza at Yolanda Restaurant and Pizzeria.

Ambiance
You enter on the pizzeria side with a long display of their delicious pizzas, calzones, zeppole, and garlic knots. They have a large selection, so you don’t have to stick with just cheese or pepperoni. The pizzeria side has very limited seating, so it is best to grab and go. The adjoining restaurant has lots of seating and a larger menu featuring pastas, salads, and other Italian favorites. I was stopping in for a quick lunch, so I’ll have to try out their restaurant menu another time!
Food
Now back to the pizza, which I should mention comes in abnormally huge slices, think jumbo slices. After looking over the many options, I opted for a BBQ slice and a chicken parmesan slice. The chicken parm pizza was delicious, but that BBQ chicken slice, whew chile! It was the most amazing slice of pizza I’ve had in a while. The BBQ sauce was equal amounts of tangy and sweet, but not overpowering at all. The chicken was plentiful and just as flavorful as you can imagine. Needless to say, this will be my new go-to lunch spot.
