After my hectic day at work, I didn’t feel like going home to cook. I was craving a quick meal that would be fulfilling, so pasta was definitely it! In South Ozone Park, Queens where I live there aren’t too many sit down restaurant options so I headed over to Prima Pasta in Howard Beach. I like when the menu is posted outside of a location because it let’s you know what you are getting yourself into before going inside, sitting down, and committing to the prices and food selection on the menu.

It was a nice family feel to the restaurant, typical of Italian restaurants. My waiter was attentive and the management asked me about my photos and asked me for a FoodBeforeLove business card. I’ve taken photos at plenty of restaurants before and never received all the interest they showed.

The meal started off with warm bread, enough to feed a family of four even though I was alone. I LOVE seafood so I really wanted to try their “Mixto Fritto” with fried calamari, crab cakes, fried shrimp, fish cake, and fried potatoes. However, I thought of how I can review a pasta restaurant for you all and not eat the pasta so instead I opted for the “Mussels Fra Diavolo” with mussels braised in marinara sauce over linguini. They were fresh basil and garlic cloves mixed in with a touch of spice. To top it off, my bill was only $16, that is a sweet deal.

Howard Beach is right on the border of Brooklyn and Queens and is accessible by public transportation so it isn’t far at all!
