I scream, you scream, who doesn’t scream for ice cream?! With the weather in Miami, icey treat is always in season. However, there’s always a rejuvenated excitement for it when it’s officially summertime. Here’s a list of places you should try this season.
Wynwood Parlor
2315 NW 7th Avenue, Miami FL 33127
My favorite way to consume this dessert is in sandwich form. Enter Wynwood Parlor. The combination of flavors are absolutely delicious! “The Classic” sandwich has chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream rolled in chocolate chips. “Sobe-rry” sandwich – one of my faves – has white chocolate macadamia cookies with strawberry ice cream. And we can’t leave out the South Florida must “Key Lime Pie” sandwich that has white chocolate key lime cookies with vanilla ice cream rolled in graham cracker crumbs. There are also vegan options, so there is a little something for everyone.
Mr. Kream
2322 N. Miami Avenue, Miami FL 33127
As a native New Yorker, this place holds a special place in my heart. Not only are the flavors yummy and creative; the names go seamlessly with the hip hop theme of this shop. Mr. Kream has a gritty feel with old school hip hop playing in the background as you mull over flavors like “Chris Brownie,” “De La Guava,” “Strawberry Delight,” “Vanilla Ice,” “Chocolate Factory,” “ASAP Rocky Road,” and “Go Shawty It’s Yo Bday.” Every flavor will have you singing the respective song!
Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlour and Restaurant
128 South Federal Highway, Dania Beach, FL 33004
Drive a little north of Miami for a cozy and family-oriented ambiance. Jaxson’s is a place where you can have old fashioned homemade ice cream, classic sundaes, and HUGE portions (see photo above). Need I say more?
Aubi & Ramsa
172 NE 41st Street, Miami, FL 33137
This place is strictly for grown-ups. 21 is the running theme. Aubi & Ramsa is a 21+ shop with 21 flavors on the menu. Premium spirits of bourbon, tequila, rum, gin, vodka, champagne and more are used in the making of all 21 flavors. Each flavor comes in two sizes: the small contains about one shot of the respective spirit, while the pint contains about four shots. The balance is perfect. The crowd favorite is “The Highland Truffle” made with the Macallan 12 years single malt. Personally, the “Agave Dulce De Leche” made with Milagro Reposado Tequila is the flavor to beat.
