It’s award season and that means red carpets and viewing parties. It’s time to relax and critique outfits worn by the stars and munch on healthy snacks while we do it. If you’re throwing a party of your own then chances are you could use some fresh snack ideas. I love a good watch party, but usually they’re filled with sugary and salty snack options, so we’re switching it up this year with healthy snacks. I’ve listed a few of my favorite below that could be a hit with your audience if they’re the healthy type.
Wegmans Signature Chocolates – 12 count assorted chocolate truffles
Developed by Wegmans Pastry Chef John Antinore and hand crafted in small batches, these fair-trade chocolates are made with the finest ingredients like fresh butter, premium chocolate, heavy cream, real fruit purees, and caramel. Though not a health food, truffles are a nice treat. Chocolate has an unexpected nutrition bonus – higher levels of cacao may help fight inflammation, support healthy digestion, and lower blood pressure.
- Milk Chocolate, 36% Cacao – filled with milk chocolate ganache; waffle pattern
- Caramel, 61% Cacao – filled with caramel; dark chocolate striped with milk chocolate
- Passion Fruit, 36% Cacao – filled with passion fruit ganache; designed with red hearts
- Dark Chocolate, 61% Cacao – filled with dark chocolate ganache; stamped with the Wegmans logo
- Hazelnut Praline, 61% Cacao – filled with hazelnut praline; topped with toasted hazelnuts
- Dark Chocolate, 91% Cacao – filled with extra dark chocolate ganache; topped with gold flecks
Sanaia Applesauce
This brand of applesauce is owned by Bahamian native, Keisha Jeremie and comes in delicious flavors such as: Guava, Sweet Ginger, Hibiscus, Tamarind, and Lavender Pear. I’m a big fan of applesauce and these flavors are enticing enough to compel anyone to pick one up and try. They are sold in 7.1oz jars for $3 but you can also buy gift boxes for $19 – $29.99. If I had to recommend a flavor then I would say grab Guava or Sweet Ginger for you guests and watch them disappear.
Good Health Apple Chips
It’s easy to eat the whole bag in one sitting so keep an eye on the bowl containing these tasty chips! I’m not a chip person but every once in a while something gets me to give the crunch life another try. You could just as easily make your own apple chips but if you’re short on time, grab a few bags of these sweet apple chips. They taste slightly like raisins but I don’t like raisins and these are good to my taste buds. They’re actually perfect for guests with a sweet tooth who don’t wish to indulge in the desserts you provide. I found these chips at MOM’s Organic Grocery Store.
Watusee Chickpeatos
These healthy and crunchy chickpeas come in flavors like Rosemary, Tomato Basil, Cinnamon Toast, and Spicy Cayenne for those needing that extra heat. My go-to is cinnamon toast because I’m always looking for ways to curb my sugar craving. A clever idea would be to have a mini chickpea bar where you could allow your guests to try different flavors and snack on them throughout the event. You can find Chickpeatos at Wegmans, Whole Foods, Kroger and Amazon.
Well, that’s what I’m serving at my watch parties during award and finale season. Do you think you’ll adopt any of these healthy snacks into your watch party routine? Let me know in the comments below!
Wegman’s supplied us with a package of their Signature Chocolate Truffles in order to complete this post.
