Believe me, I was anticipating my first vegan brunch at Caravan of Dreams but I wasn’t sure if I was going to the raw foods route or not. I wasn’t exactly looking to hit the ground running on yet another one of my first vegan experiences. Joined by some amazing followers, the 10 of us seem pretty prepared for what the afternoon had in store for us. The table included vegetarians, flexitarians, raw foodist, vegans, and newbies to it all. First thing we did was order the Sangria, of course.
The sangria probably had apples in it but it looked just like beats, and tasted just like the Sangria it was probably sitting in for hours. We needed two more of these to get a real buzz but it was a pretty cool space filler while we waited for our entrees. Our waiter was against us getting the French toast so I opted for the Mediterranean brunch, which was spanish rice, collard greens, and seitan. If anyone doesn’t know what that is, it’s almost like mock chicken but dark. The flavor is pungent and hard to cover with any other flavors so I had small pieces with my rice. The rice here was pretty good and it warmed my heart that if I ever made the lifestyle change, I could have amazing rice like this.
Lannie, also known as the Vegan Diva here, had the quesadilla and I’m still thinking about how good it was. It was spicy and cheesy. It tasted like a little pizza and it was amazingly delicious. I was actually very surprised at how much I enjoyed my small sliver of her meal and I anticipate reuniting with it again at Caravan of Dreams.
