I went to Texas for the first time and all I did was eat during the whole trip. No real sight seeing, no clubbing, no bar hopping, just food! I’m not complaining at all but I have to go back, the city was gorgeous. Writing this post was a struggle because I have so many meals to choose from. However, I chose Chicken Scratch because it is the epitome of the stereotypical southwestern experience. You know that scene in a movie where there is country music playing and a crowd screaming “Yee-Haw!” while line dancing in cowboy hats and boots? That’s what I felt like doing at this restaurant.

The decor was welcoming; it’s full of bright colors and unique furniture. There was an outdoor patio with couches and a stage for live bands to perform. The employees were friendly, but it’s the South, if they were rude I would have been appalled. One of the workers saw me with my Canon DSLR so he asked if I was a photographer. I then told him all about Food Before Love and Don’t Die Afraid and how it was my first time in Texas so I have to capture the moments and blog about it. He gave me a huge welcome and told me to enjoy his city of Dallas.

Now the moment you all have been waiting for, the food. This place has food porn written all over it! The saying, “Everything is bigger in Texas,” is definitely true when it comes to the portions here. Biscuit sandwiches that you have to eat with a knife and fork because your hands just won’t do. It gets real messy. I had “The Foundry” chicken biscuit sandwich and collard greens. I was full for hours after, it was delicious!

Just salivate over the photos below.  If you ever visit Dallas, you have to eat at Chicken Scratch and also get a drink at The Foundry, the bar right next door.
